Jury and Lay Participation in Legal Decision-Making

This option report compares constitutional provisions related to civilian participation in the legal process, i.e. in the form of juries. The sample of constitutions reviewed consists of almost 600 constitutions enacted since 1789. In addition to describing the trends in both the criminal and civil processes, the report provides samples of the constitutional provisions.
