Act on the Autonomy of Aland
Act on the Autonomy of Aland
Summary:
This Act assures autonomy for the Swedish speaking region of Aland within Finland. The original act was passed in 1920 - but was not accepted by the Alanders. This matter was referred to the League of Nations which decided in June 1921 that Finland would have full sovereignty over the Alands. The Act subsequently came into effect and was accepted by the Alanders. The present document is the most recent revision of the original Act of 1920.
