Hashemite Jordan Kingdom-Israel General Armistice Agreement
Hashemite Jordan Kingdom-Israel General Armistice Agreement
Summary:
The General Armistice was one of a series of agreements concluded under the aegis of UN mediator Ralph Bunche, as empowered by UN Security Council Resolution 62 (1968) to facilitate the transition from truce to permanent peace in Palestine. The armistice includes an agreement by the parties to adhere scrupulously to the injunction of the Security Council against resort to military force in the settlement of the Palestine question. The agreement stipulates that Iraqi forces will be withdrawn and replaced by Jordanian forces and that the Armistice Demarcation Line shall follow the truce lines as certified by the UN Truce Supervision Organisation.
