The General Peace Agreement consists of five protocols: i) the nature of the conflict; ii) democracy and good governance (constitution and transitional arrangements); iii) questions of peace and security (defence and security force reform and a permanent ceasefire); iv) reconstruction and development (economic matters); v) guaranties on implementation of the agreement.  

This ceasefire agreement, signed on 18 June 2000, comprises the cessation of hostilities and a ceasefire monitoring mechanism through the deployment of a United Nations Peacekeeping Mission.

This declaration establishes the principle of peaceful reunification based on the common element of the parties positions - confederation (South) and lose federalism (North). It calls for the normalisation of relations through  a humanitarian, economic and social framework. The declaration also commits the parties to allow exchange visits by separated family members and the release of political prisoners.

This agreement provides the definitive and permanent boundary line between the Republic of Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as established by a private sector firm.
