Submission for the CRC - Human Rights

This paper produced by UNAMI’s Office of Constitutional Support (OCS) is part of a series of submissions prepared at the request of the CRC - the Iraqi Constitutional Review Body. These notes seek to provide recommendations on specific areas of the constitution considered for review. This submission offers commentary and recommended amendments for improving the formulation, scope and inclusiveness of the human rights provisions contained the Iraqi Constitution. This submission includes a document that highlights what UNAMI/OCS considers the most pressing issues within the Bill of Rights, and a document containing fuller commentary. In addition, it includes submissions prepared by other interested parties: a commentary from UNICEF, UNIFEM and UNESCO; and a submission from the Iraqi Minorities Council (in English only).
