Freedom of Movement

This option report compares constitutional provisions related to the freedom of movement. The sample of constitutions reviewed consists of almost 600 constitutions enacted since 1789. In addition to detailing the trends with respect to the freedom of citizens to move within and out of their home state without government interference, the report sets out sample constitutional provisions divided into the following three categories: 1. Absolute freedom of movement, 2. Qualified freedom of movement, and 3. Freedom to enter and leave the country only.
