This option report compares constitutional provisions related to electoral oversight. The sample of constitutions reviewed consists of almost 600 constitutions enacted since 1789. With respect to electoral disputes, the report divides constitutional provisions into those that set up an electoral commission, an electoral court, those that use both, and those that leave adjudication of electoral disputes to the constitutional court. In addition to detailing the trends with regard to these provisions, the report sets out sample constitutional provisions.
