Rights of Juveniles

This option report compares constitutional provisions related to the special rights or status given to juveniles in the criminal process. The sample of constitutions reviewed consists of almost 600 constitutions enacted since 1789. In addition to detailing the trends with respect to such provisions, the report sets out sample constitutional provisions related to the following three categories: 1. Rights of minors during trial, 2. Special detention places for minors, and 3. Certain punishments cannot be applied to minors.
