UN Security Council Resolution 1546 (2004): The situation between Iraq and Kuwait

Resolution 1546 (2004) adopted by the Security Council on August 8, 2004, outlines, inter alia, the mission’s mandate with regards to constitutional assistance. The resolution requests the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), to play a leading role in the promotion of “national dialogue and consensus-building on the drafting of a national constitution by the people of Iraq”.
