Stateless Justice in Somalia: Formal and Informal Rule of Law Initiatives

This paper explores how justice systems – both formal judiciary systems established by local political authorities, and informal justice systems crafted from customary clan law and Islamic shari’a – function in Somalia’s ‘stateless society’.
