This is a mapping of constitutional provisions related to gender equality in Africa. The relevant provisions fall into the following categories: equality; non-discrimination; rights of women; public authorities, institutions and services; political participation and freedom of association; citizenship/nationality, right to property/inheritance; reproductive rights; education; employment; equal before the law; marriage and family life; status of religious/customary law; status of international law (including human rights law); limitations and/or derogations; general human rights guarantees; and human rights duties. The report reproduces the relevant provisions from each constitution.
