Mr. Bisarya has over twenty years’ experience supporting the rule of law and good governance, and over fifteen years focused on advising on constitutional processes. Mr. Bisarya has supported national actors engaged in constitutional reform in a range of countries and contexts including Bangladesh, Barbados, Chile, Haiti, Jamaica, Myanmar, Nepal, the Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sri Lanka and Ukraine. Recently he has also been engaged in supporting the international community following unconstitutional changes of government in Burkina Faso and Mali. In 2020-2021, Mr. Bisarya joined the UN Mediation Support Unit as the senior constitutions advisor for the Department for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs. Since 2013, Mr. Bisarya has been the Head for Constitutional Governance and Rule of Law at International IDEA. Prior to joining International IDEA, he worked with the International Development Law Organization where he managed IDLO’s rule of law assistance programmes in Afghanistan and East/Horn of Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia and South Sudan).
