The impact of digital technologies on peace mediation is manifold and ever increasing. While peace mediation remains a human-centric activity, digital technologies play a significant role, presenting both opportunities and challenges for mediators and parties.

Launched in 2018, the CyberMediation Network has contributed to better understanding the nexus between digital technologies and mediation in its different dimensions. The Network to pursue the following objectives: 

  • Establish  a community of practice and foster exchanges about digital technologies in peace mediation among mediators, mediation support, technology and social media actors, research institutions, and civil society organizations; 

  • Inform mediation practitioners about the impact of digital technologies on mediation, including benefits, challenges and risks associated with their use; 

  • Develop a repository of resources on the use of digital technologies in mediation;   

  • Contribute to improving the practice of mediation and advance the prevention, mitigation and resolution of armed conflicts; 

  • Explore the impact of digital technologies on conflicts and the implications for mediation.  

The Network is decentralized, independent and does not pursue a political agenda. Membership in the Network is free and open to organizations and individuals with a track record of engagement in the mediation and peace technology fields. Members will be encouraged to organize and host activities under the auspices of the Network and according to an agreed calendar.
