In 1995 the Constitutional Assembly Database Project began to publish the proceedings of South Africa’s Constitutional Assembly on the internet. The Project finished this work, the first of its kind anywhere in the world, in 1996, but the Database has not been available since a computer crash in 2000. This paper is the first account of the history of the Project. The paper argues that it is important to restore access to the Database, but in a way that will not repeat the mistakes made when setting up the database.

This paper discusses the importance of records and record-keeping in the constitution-making process, including: guiding principles, types and forms of records, methods of record-keeping and specimen agendas, minutes and resolutions.

This is a rough draft of the rules of procedure for the Executive Committee of the Constitutional Loya Jirga. It includes: the powers and duties of the chairperson, the sessions of the Committee, including special meetings, the agenda, and records from the sessions, decision-making procedures, including what constitutes a quorum, the removal and disqualification of members, the functions of the secretariat, and finally, the powers and duties of the Constitutional Loya Jirga Election Panel.

This report of the CKRC comprehensively discusses the Commission's mandate, structure and activities as part of the post-2000 constitution-making process. The report is structured around the CKRC's activities before, during and after the 2003-2004 National Constitution Conference (NCC).
