Agreement on the Implementation, Compliance and Verification Timetable for the Peace Agreements
This agreement was signed by the parties at Guatemala City on 29 December 1996 in the presence of the United Nations Moderator, Mr. Jean Arnault. The agreement is a detailed guide for the implementation of all the commitments undertaken by the parties in agreements signed since 1994. It sets out a calendar for the phased implementation of those commitments and for the establishment of the Follow-up Commission.
Agreement on a Firm and Lasting Peace
This agreement reflects the national consensus to put an effective end to the armed conflict in Guatemala. The agreement also brings into effect all the previous agreements encompassing military, political, social, economic and environmental issues and binds them into a comprehensive nationwide agenda for peace.
Agreement between the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Leader of the United Tajik Opposition
In this agreement, the parties provide a timeframe for the completion of negotiations. The document provides interim measures that shall be taken until the next round of talks. The parties also agree to cease all hostilities during the talks and to establish a Commission on National Reconciliation for the transition period.
Protocol on the Main Functions and Powers of the Commission on National Reconciliation
This protocol provides implementation provisions for the Agreement between the President of the Republic of Tajikistan E. S. Rakhmanov, and the leader of the United Tajik Opposition, S. A. Nuri from 23 December 1996. It delineates the main functions and powers of the Commission of National Reconciliation. An additional protocol signed on 21 February 1997 providing the amendments to this Protocol is also included within this document.
Agreement on the Basis for the Legal Integration of Unidad Revolucionaria Nacional Guatemalteca (URNG)
This agreement provides measures for the integration of URNG into civilian life and the political transformation of URNG into a political party. It also contains provisions to be included in a National Reconciliation Act that will form the legal framework for the integration efforts.
Protocol on Settlement of the Military and Political Situation in the Areas of Confrontation
This agreement delineates actions to be taken prior to the Summit negotiation in Moscow. These actions include a cessation of all hostilities, the withdrawal of armed forces and the restoration of law and order in the area.
