Standing Committee

This option report compares constitutional provisions related to legislative standing committees. The sample of constitutions reviewed consists of almost 600 constitutions enacted since 1789. The report focuses on specific legislative committees: those that act on behalf of the legislature when it is not in session and those that always have a special legislative role. In addition to detailing the trends with regard to constitutional provisions concerning such committees, the report provides sample constitutional provisions, divided into the following two categories: 1.
