Models for Setting up the Judiciary under Muslim Constitutions

This paper seeks to consider the models for setting up the judiciary under Muslim constitutions. Reference is made mainly to the Constitutions of Afghanistan, Pakistan and Nigeria. This paper was presented at the Symposium on "Sharia Law in Constitutions of Muslim Countries" and "Challenges for the Somali Constitution-building Process" – organized by the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law, held in Djibouti, February 2010.
