Report on the Constituent Assembly of the Republic of Ecuador

This report produced by the Carter Center covers the principal discussions, decisions and outcomes of the Ecuadorian constituent process. Section 1 explains the organization of the Constituent Assembly and gives a brief overview of citizen participation in the process. Section 2 covers the Assembly’s most important decisions. Section 3 provides an account of the main issues and controversies related to the constituent process, with a special focus on the constitutional articles that stood out. Section 4 focuses on the overall views of the process held by major political and social actors. Section 5 introduces the principal elements of the Transitional Regime.
