This book is a critical evaluation of the state of democracy in the Middle East and North Africa. It identifies six pillars of a working and viable democracy - the judiciary, the constitutional framework, parliamentary elections, political parties, civil society, and the media - and aims to identify and propose solutions to the problems faced in all these six areas in different countries in the region.
